Hi,I am wondering, if I invest in a syndicated deal where I own fractional ownership in a LLC using an IRA, does that mean it would be subject to the yearly $800 California franchise tax?

The KW franchise is very much agent focused with lots of benefits and training.  

Always look for a licensed tax professional, some one with some letters behind their name, not those national franchise firms.

If you do a member search, he's the one from Lafayette with the Ugly Houses franchise.

As @Nathan Gesner pointed to, my issue with "Guru's" is similarly that over the years I have seen program after program, wrapped in a marketing message that one would think it's almost like buying a franchise system, just make this purchase and the how's and what's will be fully disclosed, and in truth, it's a ponzy-scheme of REI insight. 

Here in Texas you would be subject to the state franchise tax which is imposed on all business entities doing business in Texas. 

I do franchise financing and have run into this group with their BELOC - it’s claimed to be 10yrs IO full term low rate and they finance 100% of project. 

He said there was a way to get around the $800 per LLC California franchise tax by having a business trust.

I have no employees to baby sit, no perishable inventory to move, no franchise fees to pay, and no store to maintain.

I don't want to label all NW franchises, because I'm sure there are some doing legit business but FL,GA, and NC have been horrendous.
