You can prohibit, or limit excess storage (inside, AND outside of the garage), and certainly consider restricting, or providing a metal storage locker for flammables.

This would be most noticeable on things like electric ovens and clothes dryers that draw a lot of current.Too much current thru too small a wire causes corrosion, especially at junctions with dis-similar metals - Like the connection at the circuit breaker.

I have used cheap plastic drywall knives as scrapers before; I feel like they have a lower chance of messing up the surface than a razor blade or metal putty knife, and when they're new, they have a decent edge on them.

With 6 houses we own the warranty has replaced 1 water heater, 2 ac coil and coolant recharges, 1 ac power line, 1 refrierator, 1 electrical outlet repair (tech found a short in the line we missed), 1 stove/oven control board and 1 furnace repair, all in the past 3 years.
