In MD, I'd assume the biggest threat is termites, which are pretty visible due to their tubes up the foundation walls.

The memorandum states: etching and shelter tubes found on the underside bathroom sink wall areas of the structure".

However the rest are open ground which a licensed electrician said suggests that they may still be running on old wires and that there may still be knibs and tubes.

I am reading everything I can and listening to podcasts and you tube has a lot as well.

The structure and flooring is solid but there are smatterings of asbestos pipe insulation and knob and tube remnants in the basement. 

There are an abundance of activities: hiking, swimming, rafting, kayaking, tubing, zip lining, & farmer markets. 

If the building still has knob-n-tube, you may have troubles with insurance.Similarly the plumbing could contain lead or galvanized pipe - both of which you will want to budget it replace - on the supply side and galvanized, cast iron or clay on the drain.  

Is it possible/allowable/cost effective to maybe have a "crawlspace bulkhead" to run them through or any other ideas or option some sort of tubing or conduit?
