You can also see if they have committed any crimes, been evicted, have had liens placed against them etc.The moral of my story is that I check everything and believe nothing until it checks out.

@Lane Kawaoka @Mike Krieg - Yeah, the MHC market is a notable focus of mine right now... but I honestly don't know if I'll invest in that space or not, because of the ethical considerations involved.I know that taking ethical or moral factors into account is a bit verboten in many investment forums, but it's important to both my wife and myself.
