My focus was on the elderly but it is good to know I may have a back up market as well.The problem with best rental locations is a possibility of rent control.

What they do care a lot about is people getting hurt, and when those people are sympathetic examples (grandma being cheated out of her house for example), then their caring and their political self-interest match up nicely.The seller in the linked article was clearly not elderly Mrs.

Here is an example where I keep the rent a bit below market:  Elderly tenant on a fixed income, few complaints, will not move for a long time.

So I am an elderly homeowner who has done two bathroom projects in my residence.

I get a much better return on my purchasing dollar in the cities that have a higher ratio of renters to owner occupants, and inherently, have a higher percent of landlords willing to accept a voucher.I'm not aware of any federal program that only helps the elderly, but in my experience, the majority of one bedroom voucher holders happen to be seniors.  

They will struggle to make consistent payments especially is a crisis comes up (one of them ends up in hospital or loses job and has to suddenly take care of elderly parents).  

One property In Detroit its common for the Policed to relocate the elderly or those that have lived on one of these blocks for years that has turned Ghetto. they don't have the man power or resources to protect the innocent.. so they pay to move them.Its a very sad commentary on the war zones of the us inner cities.. and the poor people that have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years or more only to see it turn and decay to an extent that the government can not protect you anymore.And then you take the lovely Flippers that buy this crap for nothing and sell it to unsuspecting out of state investors or foreign investors and the cycle of greed and is complete.
