Keep them where they are not only because of the above, but because of decorating options and furniture placement. 

Ask an interior decorator in your area, or look at new construction colors.

I'm not judging them for not having dental insurance, I'm just saying if you are from San Francisco you will have huge culture shock just driving 4 - 6 hours north.When I was in Crescent City, that was during the 2016 election and there were literally huge altars to Trump, too - giant wooden structures with huge decorated Trump signs/banners, etc. 

Same with décor, timeless classics rather than trendy finishes.

I'm up there in years now and I've seen fads come and go, and have dealt with different landscape issues and pests and dust flingers and accent walls, and many different types of decor and colors that all went out of style almost as quickly as the stainless steel appliances and gray walls went up....oh, I meant avocado green, no wait, I meant gray and stainless steel are the new avocado green....Anyway, if you want to go with timeless and save money in the long run, you can't go wrong with white and clean, in my opinion. 

When we purchased the house, it was just used as a decorative wall that stood out from the living room/stairway area.The person we purchased this property from glued weird "tiles" on the chimney for decoration.

They told the property manager about the floor in Dec or Jan.

If you were in an A or B rental, then the colors and decor may be more of an influence... 

It's also used in confectionary baking as decor, as it is edible.
