If you go the wood framing route you will have to rip the joists that sit on the concrete because garage floors are built with a slope (for water runoff).

Then NACA asked for one more thing which essentially required her to rip out everything she had done as part of the renovation in the basement.

You should be able to get someone to rip it out and tile it as a shower for $5k, or just pull out and re-set the tub for even less.
