For me personally I am not handy when it comes to repairs and such.

depends on your credit if you can get a mortgage or your ability to find good deals that you use hard money for and then refinance into DSRC.  

Maybe they don't need the money now but in 5 years they wan to send a grand child to college.

That said, Texas tends to offer more affordable housing than Florida’s coastal towns, so your money might go further if you’re buying properties for yourself and your portfolio.When it comes to family life, Texas has tons of family-friendly suburbs with excellent schools.

I met him at an event in Oakland and was not impressed personally all he would say is he does big deals for big money.. and I know how hard it is to do business with those in his community it really surprises me how people followed and invested as much as they did.

The person they consider having the deep pockets. 

So we don't have a lot of money to start with.

But what it's really doing is making me a better business person. 

Personally (as a STR-focused REALTOR), I would never give you numbers and tell you you can hit them. 

As long as you don't lose money.
