They may prove to function well, as cabins or temporary lodging, but I fear that we're going to see a number of things used once and hard to sell later on down the road. 

I can't imagine finding anyone to work 24/7 for lodging and a stipend.

You can check with the Better Business Bureau to see how many complaints have been lodged against them, if they were resolved, how quickly, and their attitude about having to do so.  

The term short term rental does not apply to hotel or motel rooms, extended stay lodging facilities, bed and breakfast inn or boarding and lodging hotel rooms therefore these exact regulations do not apply to those facilities.

The only thing this nut job has is a lease, but  there is an exchange for lodging that I can only hope was clearly spelled out.

If you did have consideration did you lodge a lien against the existing deed and notify the bank?

This Act does not apply with respect to,(a) living accommodation intended to be provided to the travelling or vacationing public or occupied for a seasonal or temporary period in a hotel, motel or motor hotel, resort, lodge, tourist camp, cottage or cabin establishment, inn, campground, trailer park, tourist home, bed and breakfast vacation establishment or vacation home;So yeah, make it REALLY clear that this is a vacation home.
