You're off to a good start with planning the removal of all the fabrics/carpets & padding that contain the tar/smoke.

I'd cover it with a filter fabric.  

In 1915 Henry Ford employed 1400 people with his famous $5/day wage (who met the requirements lol) who had to complete this arduous process of nailing together fabricated parts.

Maybe you're so unsuccessful and desperate for a commission check that you'll fabricate lies about everybody in the business - except your perfect, sainted self.

If you are going to do a stone countertop, check with fabricators in your area to find remnants that can be turned into cute counters on the cheap.
