This is production.When you buy personal housing, you're helping your own situation and you might benefit from appreciation, but this is fundamentally an act of consumption, not production. 

The house meter is for consumption not specific to the individual units...such as exterior lights, power to the washer and dryer, sprinkler system, outside hosebib etc...If existing water lines are behind walls, under slab, it is going to be impossible.Also, if you separate electric but not water, and your water heater is electric, make sure you are not supplying hot water to unit B on a branch of a line powered by unit A's electric.

Marcus, good deal, when I post comments they are not all directed at the OP, many are for general consumption.

In making the asset class available and open for public consumption concepts surely get dumbed down.

(Unless of course there is an ongoing alcohol problem, but that doesn't sound like it's the case)
