For those that had loss of use or ALE (alternative living expense) insurance, the insurance company was required to pay for your like-kind housing while you rebuild which includes furnishing the rental as well.

It would be inadequate to do the analysis.HOWEVER, you can absolutely use an IRR calculation and compare the two strategies over the same time frames.The point is that if you do the IRR for targeted properties with all kinds of variables, you will be able to take into account any kind of strategy, regardless if it is high cash flow and zero appreciation, medium cash flow and medium appreciation, or zero cash flow and high appreciation.My posts are not about which is better.

@Brian Eastman is correct and I will add that outside of being 59.5 there are some (though super rare) employer plans will allow you to roll over some or all of the funds in your 401k.

In one of the email from her last year, she said "We will be able to use the FIRPTA withholding tax on your 2023 US return against any possible tax payable so you will either receive most or all the withholding tax back on the 2023 US return"However my selling agent told me that I need to pay tax for 20% capital gain, so I am unsure if I will actually get most of the withholding back, or I will need to pay a significant amount to IRS.purchase price about 12 yrs ago was $80k + costs.
