Not too big of a deal, but if it wasn't the igniter that was the problem my repair bill would have been $185-200, and I probably would have just went out and bought a new stove.

Although I am unaware of the facts, I would expect that REI's explosive incident was the result of somebody not following procedure by putting out all gas pilots or other sources of ignition.

One benefit is that they put so much tension on my ignition that after a while, I'm able to start my vehicle and then remove the key while it's running.

It's not likely dangerous - while Great stuff is flammable - the hot air in your duct line will not ignite it.What may happen is the foam will eventually loosen over time with the repeated expansion and contraction of the vent pipe and the seal will fail.

Now even when it's on minimum with a blower it generates way too much heat & it lacks a thermostat control unit.Also if you get a remote go with direct hard wired ignition as those with batteries in the log set will need to be replaced every year & they are tough to get to.
