Regarding a book, I learned a lot from Location, location, location by Ozzie Jurock and he has quite a bit of free content on YouTube and his website.

Quit comparing it to other forms of investing because you are wasting your time and, at this point, creating a lot of unnecessary negative attention to your idea. 

I have found that it is quite simple to self-manage a portfolio of 30-40 short-term/interest-only loans using a combination of QuickBooks and an XL workbook (1 worksheet "tab" for each loan).

I am not quite 100% whole, but probably better than others who have invested more recently.
