On the other hand if "out of the goodness of your heart" you decide to give them some of the option consideration back you are giving them something they aren't necessarily entitled to, which feels more like someone doing a nice thing for them.It's the same for evictions, don't pay a lawyer and then pay for repairs after they trash the house, just give them $500 to move out.
