Ken: You can distribute dividends to adult children from your family trust and they will be grossed-up, credited and included at the child's marginal tax rate, but dividends to minor children are still subject to the "Kiddie Tax" ... you could also achieve this directly from a corporation by issuing distinct classes of shares to each family member and only declaring dividends on those classes held by the adult children.

Then I could just do it all at the end of the year (march) - take my 40% min salary in one lump sum out of the piggy bank, do all the payroll forms, send off the tax, take my 60% ordinary k-1 out of the piggy bank, declare it on my 1040, pay the taxes there - done!

I did my research and given my good experience in managing my parent's Airbnbs in my home country, I can see potential in starting an Airbnb business in Mont-Tremblant, QC, where I'm planning to build not less than three to five small cottages in the coming 8 years.Because family always comes first, we were thinking to let my wife declare non-residency and join me abroad or maybe I apply for the Canadian PR and join her in Canada but we are not sure about the tax consequences given our current situation and future plans.May I know your advise putting in mind our medium to long-term plans, I would like to know what is the best way we can take this forward while keeping our tax liability as minimal as possible.Thanks
