In CA we've so many non-english community and yes their home appreciates as well.

@Jeff Filali said it all. find the job you hate the most and stick to it. that's what grind is all about. if you can handle the toughest job and not quit, you will have a steady, dependable income that you can taking the rest steps he outlined. you are in so cal, think about the people crossed board without legal papers and doesn't speak English, if they can survive and even sending money home. you sure can. the problem is not them, the problem is you!

Got the impression that there were people “living” in the hotel, I was in an elevator with a maintenance guy and he spoke English until I asked him if people were living there.

Start with your basics classes like math, english, electives and decide down the road what you want to major in.
