There is no HUD/FHA requirement for a certified contractor, it is actually just an un-affiliated certification training they receive that they can present that they meet the requirements for 203K but it doesn't actually mean anything to the lender as they still have to approve of all contractors with the same standards whether they have the "certification" or not.

Hi Peter,I used to work for TransUnion (international, not domestic) but as some easy-to-check suggestions colleagues used to reinforce to their clients1) ensure you are using TransUnion and not an affiliate (nothing wrong with an affiliate by any means, just know who you are using).2) confirm SSN and that it belongs to him/her, i.e. never mis-used, reported stolen etc.3) double check accuracy of full postal addresses, no PO Boxes, Street vs.
