At least in our primary market (Tampa) I think 2023 created a purge of subpar listings and subpar owner's (get rich quick types) and now has created an environment where the good survive and the best thrive and the rest have died. 

I have faced this for many years and has not been an issue (yet), and survived the scrutiny of an audit.

Make a mistake with a house hack and you might experience some inconveniences and lose a few thousand bucks, but you can usually survive.

Some investors will continue to earn a healthy return on their investments while other will not be able to survive.

The people who survived 2019 - 2023 did so through unprecedented conditions.

They all pay the late fees and we all survive.

I didn't need cashflow to survive on, just as it appears that you have a healthy career outside of real estate.

Eventually, you begin to develop  detachment as a survival mechanism.Some people find it really easy for others it is an adjustment to work in this space and see the reality.  

We will see the STR become cyclical (much like anything) where those who can weather the storm will survive in good times and bad. 

I survived, but it was stressful time.
