My goals with real estate are to 1) make my money work harder than it would for me than if it were invested in the market, and to 2) diversify across multiple properties rather than saddling myself with a very large mortgage.

The creditors at least knew he was not saddled with any debt payments at that point.If they were let go due to lifestyle issues (playing their music too loud, constantly refusing to cooperate with the landlord over maintenance issues, whatever), there might not be a public record on the matter.

I am closing on my second home at the end of May and will live there while renting out my Saddle Ridge townhome and hopefully repeat this in a year.

The latter would be a lot easier for me to swallow & recover from than the ongoing cost(s) you are saddled with.Good luck
