I've been through situations like this.Hopefully the family pays rent and this becomes a non-issue.If they don't pay the rent, you need to be understanding and kind, but firm.

@Kris Lou Many factors go into PMC pricing:1) Locality (city/state)2) Neighborhood & Property Class (time to manage Class A < Class B < Class C < Class D)3) Property condition (slumlord properties hard to manage)4) Number of units (some economies of scale, but not as much as owners think)5) Owner expectations (some owners really want a personal assistant!)

That’s great advice Taz, I’m currently working on saving enough money to get started, house hacking is hard for me at the moment because I just bought a house 2 years ago, I would have to sell my house(which is in a great neighborhood great location) and use that money to fund the duplex which isn’t totally out of the question, I would like to keep the house if possible but also would like to get real estate investing more.

According to the Planning Board, the intent of the RM-2 Zone is to create, maintain, and enhance residential areas characterized by a mix of single family homes, duplexes, townhouses, small multi-unit buildings, and neighborhood businesses where appropriate.I'm assuming by definition I am zoned to convert to a triplex?
