I did not know that the heater ductwork was not connected or that a main beam like 10 x 10 that held up the entire house since 1900, including a second story was old termite (none active) destroyed for 4 feet and no longer held up anything.

You will want a termite inspection since wood wasn't treated in that era and if you suspect say termite or beam damage have someone look at those items.

In my property that essentially has tree logs holding it up, there was later added some bracketing to secure the vertical log to the horizontal beam.
