@Brandon Durkee I agree with @Aaron Zimmerman - you really need to make sure you're including all costs in your calculations.And, one comment on your plan to take care of your parents - that's very admirable, and it may be the right thing for you to do! 

What I'm saying about these particular people you're dealing with, is at least they're being transparent about the property value and why they're charging more than market value - I find that to be rare and admirable in this business - maybe you think it's shady.

I solved problems, loved and honored by many, disliked only by a few, you gain respect and admiration, you have the opportunity to interact with people, teach and advise them.

I work for the sanitation department and I've always admired houses for sale in my area (recently I have been guessing the prices of houses for sale while working, and then going home and researching to see how accurate I was).
