There are a couple notes from the article that make me think this, but the biggie is this passage halfway down:"The sponsor of the bill said he plans to offer amendments to narrow the bill with less of a focus on people renting second homes and more attention paid to hotels that convert to privately owned units that are taxed as residential but still operate like a hotel.These giant corporate properties that are being misclassified as residential but are being rented out as a hotel.

We are now working to get it rent-ready...and one of the things that came up was a giant tree in the front yard whose root has completely buckled up the sidewalk in front of the house.

Sometimes it means drilling holes in the basement walls and installing anchors that go out horizontally from the walls (essentially, you're driving a giant screw through the basement wall into the earth).If it has a basement and you are getting water in there, you may also have to add a sump pump to any of the above items.It depends on the size of the house and how bad it is and lots of other factors, but I would figure that it would be hard to get out of this for less than a few thousand dollars.

When we would replace mattresses we would drive 2 hours south as there is only one crappy expensive furniture store near us, and go to like a Mattress Giant type of place and actually lie down on the mattresses and see which ones were comfortable and pick one and then negotiate the price.

I've even offered to fix it now to save them money because they will be responsible for February's rent since I won't be able to rent the space 1.) because of the damage they did goes clear up to the rental entry gate 2.) they won't allow me to view the rental in January for new perspective tenants 3.) they refuse to stop walking in the giant mud pit they created and use the other gate on the other side of the property while the yard gets reestablished.
