I’m a property newbie reading books about investing( mainly American ones) wondering how the concepts in them differ to ones used where I live (England).

Hi Everyone, Sorry to jump on this thread so late but I found this when researching the potential of buying a log cabin in Gatlinburg.We are from the UK and fell in love with the area on Honeymoon and have been back many times.

And then used cash from the last owner-occupied house (in the UK) to buy another rental.  

I live in Thailand too, so I'm hoping to buy properties cheaper than back home in the UK, but still charge western tourists higher rental rates.

Hi AllI have recently started working for a company specialising in UK investment land.This sparked my interest in the property market and I can't wait to start building my portfolio.

.- Subsidized deals are king right now, nothing like having tenants that don't have jobs to lose, so HAP contracts or Section 8 voucher transactions or anything like that are largely immune to the current sturm und drang.In terms of actual horror stories:- Big sponsor with lots of workforce housing that included many undocumented immigrants who can't collect unemployment, most of whom work retail or domestic services and none of whom are working now. 

I immigrated into this country so I didn't have any credit.

Also in this area theres a lot of illegal immigrants, and no discrimination here I have no problem renting to them, but what would I have to do here?
