@Brian Ortins As far as the tub/shower wall board its plastic it hold great you can install with liquid nail it is easy to install.

You will have a local seller of pest control products, which is where the pest control guy gets his stuff from.Buy one of those plastic canisters that you pressurize (can't remember what they are called), some good old Cyper WP or Permethrin, and have at it.

Unfortunately, he can't do the work until spring, so we're charged with wrapping it up in plastic for the winter.

These are cheap, plastic things that some plumbers say may fail.Ammonia was often used in plaster work back in the day both for the plaster for walls and for moldings. 

As to my costs, the 140' of  4" plastic pipe I bought, was less than $300. 

Not the same as pex, though both are plastic. 

UPDATE:I went by Lowe's on my way home today and did not like the look of the plastic stick on tiles at all.

What I would do is check your basement floor first by putting a 3 foot by 3 foot piece of clear plastic down on the floor first and tape around all corners.  

@Irina Belkofer I hate whenever realtors use the comparison to surgery/doctors... please don't take this the wrong way, but being a realtor is SIGNIFICANTLY different than being a doctor.
