Keep your eye on the newspaper for rental advertisements and then track down the owners.

These newspapers and magazines have general requirements that no self promotion is allowed.....so it's heavy on the info and contains zero self promo.

also i seen these ads in my local newspaper saying they only want like 5000 d/n could that be possible all i would need is 5000 down?

My REALTOR just drove by the property today and noticed newspapers over all the windows where nice plantation shutters were before.Looks like they are taking things apart and possibly taking things with them to their new home.

Thanks for the replies.I am actively looking for fixer-upper houses, browsing the "raw data" from the local MLS board every week, but I'm not finding any standout, amazing deals.About two years ago I tried doing the whole foreclosure/preforeclosure thing, going through the "Legal News" paper, looking up outstanding mortgages on properties, and contacting the owners who were in a purchasable situation.

Of course there's always craigslist, bandit signs, newspapers, etc that you could use too.

You can find them at the courthouse, newspaper, by sending mail etc.

They would do newspaper ads, craigslist ads, and bandit signs.

@Chris Martin I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Commissioners, editorials in the bigger newspapers, local TV news reporters, and the like start throwing around terms like slumlord to refer to or report on these types of situations.
