Plastic coated cable works well.If the rope isn't on the window you'll need to pull off one side of the sash and pull the window out (lower part of a double hung) and screw in to attach the rope.Put the weights on so that in the full down position the weights are just below the opening at the roller wheel

I would do the LVL on the entry & cheap carpet elsewhere BUT go with the thicker more expensive padding & it will feel plush.We have found most dislike the orange colored floor look & have been using the muted grey tones similar to barn board etc.

I know I will need assistance coming up with the few thousand it takes to replace carpet, or throw on a new coat of paint, or to do minor repairs.
