Their thermostat was not even hooked to the electrical system. 

Hello, My wife and I just put in a Google Nest Thermostat in our townhome.

Sometimes its as simple as replacing a boring light fixture in a kitchen, adding a programmable thermostat, or removing troublesome landscaping. 

@Brandon MetzYou can put in a thermostat that limits the setting to 72 degrees or what you choose.  

Is it the thermostat wire?

That would cost me $25K and the building would have a reliable, maintenance free heating system that offers thermostats in each unit.

I would also be curious what people recommend to improve the efficiencies of some of the expenses.... ie: brands of low flow faucets and shower heads, wifi thermostats with limits etc.... 

The smart home can be monitored remotely with a Nest thermostat, security cameras, doorbell, and home security alarm while the Rachio weather-intelligent irrigation system lowers the water bill.

I've used them to set door codes, message/call guests, schedule cleaners, adjust thermostats, monitor cameras, CRM management, end to end processing of rental applications, etc. 

Kind of bummed because I had one picked out and I had my smart thermostat picked out but it's a no go for now.
