@Skye Anderson, Most of the electric meters today are smart meters, they are controlled by a cell signal to report usage, turned off and on by the power company.

Don't know what's inside that staircase, but it kills the signal. 

Aside from the obvious fact that banks are pretty diligent in not being stupid (as much now anyway), seeing two high cash purchases of your properties way above market would signal a problem.
