Hey guys, my family has done a couple rentals in the Birmingham area and want to know what are the good areas that have worked for yall! 

I personally try to automate as much as possible and rely on great/trusted handymen, cleaners, etc. on the ground that can take care of anything that comes up and let me know about the state of the property.

Never heard of them....so don't know good or bad.   

A well connected agent can also tap into their network.. for instance, probate attorneys might know of people seeking short-term solutions.

The new Landlord wants to know if she had an animal and if it caused any damage or other problems.

Should I get preapproved before searching to know my options?

It's hard to get checks quickly, I know, who takes a check, but I've run into this before.
