Agreed with @Theresa HarrisGet a contractor recommendation (or multiple) from your friend and reach out to GCs yourself to have a couple of quotes and ideas for the renovation project.During the walkthroughs, you can pick the contractor's brain regarding pricing on different material grades, efficient layout ideas, etc.

My mind is blown by all the creativity and we're lucky that we're in Milwaukee and from my experience, most people are very willing to share their brain with you.

Owner was just on the brain as I was typing, but my point was I didn't know that the attorney could do business at all.

I would love to bounce some ideas off of you guys and pick your brains! 

They are simply too well-funded and have too many brains working on bringing about improvement and innovation.
