I want to preface this by saying I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to real estate investing, but the more books and resources I consume, the more I find myself gravitating towards commercial real estate, specifically hotels!

STOP blindly regurgitating whatever media you consume.

I'm just starting out with a STR and I'm in the process of vetting companies for tax strategy and asset protection. 

Whether they have personal property protection, and how much, should be left up them.

I do not believe I am RentRedi's target consumer as I have more needs than others and that has been true for other business relationships I tried to build in my time, but I hate when things have to end on sour notes and the fact that it took publicly criticizing the service to get attention is more than disappointing on RentRedi's part as a service business.

Choosing an STR-friendly area can save you significant hassle and protect your investment in the long run.

Some level of protection will almost certainly be provided as opposed to some sort of outright ban.  

Managing a rental yourself can be time-consuming, especially if you're handling maintenance, tenant relations, and lease enforcement. 

Also, what if I hold financing in my personal name on some of these properties and I have simply moved them to the LLC for additional libiliaty protection where as I have to move them in and out of the LLC when I refinance?

LLC offers better legal protection.3) Setting up in states that allow your identity to be hid is also overblown.
