I'm also from Detroit and currently looking for my first rental property and you're right, the forums are a great tool but I would also consider attending some local real estate events/seminars and networking with realtors!

Maybe there are networking events that I can attend.

Your resident might say they had to fly all over the country to attend meetings in person since their internet was out.  

I took a few weeks off, but quicl update here: I took a few L's on options and going to give that a few week break.my current initiative for June is finding and attending a real estate investor networking event every week!

I always learn something when I attend his.Omni Casey runs several called Cashflow Breakfast Club, it's mostly educational with a bit of networking interspersed and at the end.
