If you are fluent in Japanese, it will be easier but if not, working with contractors, brokers etc is not always easy.

There are some US banks operating  in 50+ countries.The Canadians, Chinese, Japanese, French ... all have some institutions doing business globally in multiple countries.

I would take a trip there and check it out... because having a few Japanese partners like I do..
