Hey @Brad Birky - your CPA could probably advise you best in this scenario but my understanding is that if it was bought as a primary residence you can get the tax writeoffs from the portion that you weren't occupying.

@Brad FitzpatrickIt's actually less hard with Mexican banks than with Costa Rican banks provided that you do it the right way and have what it takes (I used to lend to banks in both countries when I was an international banker years ago so I have insights in how they work).
