I updated the kitchen from original 1980's stained wood cabinets and laminate countertops by reconditioning the cabinets (white, slate, and gold), hand-pouring a white with black marble-type epoxy over the existing countertops, installing white subway tile with black grout, and removing a large section of cabinets and replacing them with floating shelves.I also added a 250 sq. ft. bedroom by heating and insulating the three-season room/office.What was the outcome?

Only things I can think of are HVAC filters (tenant every 3-6 months), batteries in smoke alarm (tenant twice a year).

Like others I was expecting that they replaced the entire unit.Your lease clearly states they need to replace the filters every 3 months, you shouldn't have to remind them but given this happened, I'd also check the furnace filters and anything else (batteries in smoke alarm).

All expensive devices should be plugged into a surge protector and not directly into the ungrounded outlets to prevent damage.Recommend installing a battery backup system on the sump pump to prevent shutdowns during power outages.Roof is towards EOL which means I am looking at high CapEx in near future (less than 5 years).

Aug 23 electric company comes and puts 3 day note on door of squatter while squatter is hiding insideAug 24 DTE informs us that the bill for this cabin hasn't been paid for a long time, bills are often sent back "return to sender", over $1,100 is owed, gas will be turned off soonAug 26 electric company comes and removes meter, we haven't seen squatter since Monday night, we knock expecting an empty unit, 14 year old daughter is inside, no electric, no water, no gas, phone battery low, and the house is the worse garbage pit I've ever seen - 5 full size black bags of kitchen waste sitting near door, goat path from room to room, dirty clothes piled everywhere. not hoarder situation, just super dirty situation.
