CA has the most anti-landlord/anti eviction laws in the US.

In this case I'd say, "I am however, denying you because you lied on your application and people who lie on their application are not protected by anti-discrimination laws - even if they have kids.  

And even in the rent-controlled cities, not all rental properties are under rent control - depends on the age of the building, etc.People like to think CA is really anti-landlord, but it's not.

They run your investment into the ground, sucking as much money out of you as possible, then offer to list the property and get a commission for that, too.I'm just really anti- long-distance landlord investing.  

If the issue comes up after the lease has been signed without such a clause, the landlord would likely need to rely on an anti-drug or crime policy that hopefully was included in the lease.The landlord would then need to send written notice of the lease breach, citing the appropriate clause.

Asheville has also become anti-STR for the main reason that investors (like you and me) are buying up property to rent out to tourists and taking reasonably priced inventory away from locals or driving up rents with limited supply. 

The anti-landlord hate there is so great that I would be afraid to deny anyone for any reason.

@Joseph Cacciapaglia: None of my properties are in California or Washington anymore because of the problems discussed in other threads about city councils being anti-landlord,etc as spelled out in HELP US!
