How is the energy sector impacting the Houston market and the rents in that area?

Once upon a time, back in my trade days, I worked in the utilities sector for one of the "Big Boys" Xcel.

If that's the case, this is one of the risks I mentioned in an earlier post -- if you invest in an area that doesn't have a employment diversity, the loss of a big company or the downturn of a particular sector can certainly have a big effect.- The fact that your house hasn't appreciated in 15 years isn't surprising.

However, due to issues with the builder and not having all the upgrades we want for the house,  and with the banking sector blowing up, we decided to pull out of the contract.

.• Job Quantity and Quality - For example, in many parts of the US manufacturing and similar jobs are going away and what remains are service sector jobs.

After that I began to see a massive opportunity to make money on a sector of the real estate market that most investors and/or real estate  professionals either overlook or simply just don’t understand.

More govt control in the PRIVATE sector.

This demand has attracted real estate investors as it can be a stable and lucrative sector of real estate.
