And like @Brian Gerlach said...find that why, find your reason for being;  There're a YOU shaped hole in the universe- live it.

I've never had any RE courses from university or any other formal education so I am going into the industry with almost no knowledge.

So if you're looking at socking away some money for a down payment on real estate, I would recommend a more secure vehicle like a savings account while you are looking for the right property.I love the suggestions above regarding a house hack somewhere near your university.

Student housing - like near Temple University - for example wouldn't be as difficult to fill even if it has lots of bedrooms. 

I come here from the BP podcast- I am currently living in Asheville NC but moved here from Minneapolis MN after playing for the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Baseball team and graduating with a business degree.

I like to learn as much as possible before I jump into something, hence my Chemical Engineering degree from Texas A&M University (Sorry, I had to throw that in there some way.).

I know the US is different, in Canada colleges are mostly for trades (universities do degrees in sciences, arts, etc). 

I recommend a location that is within 1 mile of a public university, 1 mile of a private university, 1 mile of a hospital, and 1 mile of a major company headquarters.
