I agree, @Tom Gimer.Back in the days when I’d speak at western R.E. conferences and clubs, it was fun to help California based investors walk through an estate issue.However, it did not “translate” well at the national level.

If you want to gain financial freedom through real estate faster, then you have to be active RE investors which translates to a lot of hours.

I'm a complete noob and I could just be missing an easy process here, but I thought equity doesn't exactly translate in "money in pocket" per se out once you sell.

If one does qualify for real estate professional status, does the tax savings translate to income made at the W2 job, or only to the income made in pursuit of the real estate related activities such as rental income, etc?

And we can translate this question to anything really - do your comps have quartz countertops?
