It is the cause of the problem and will continue to be troublesome.It is just going to cause more issues down the road--like eventually crack your next driveway, impinge on any underground pipes, put leaves and branches on your roof/gutter every storm and every fall, etc. 

It would be like replacing a good slate roof with shingle..

It could be something as small as a hole in the wall (or many small things) or something as big as a hole in the roof.

Our neighboring landlords were so grateful for us cleaning up the place that one of them surprised us with a new roof for the overhang on the front porch while he was having his roof redone!! 

Asking $350K, 1800 SF; definitely needs $100K+ reno, really could use a gut reno, although roof looks good.

They mentioned to us about roof damage and reminded us about the shingles that flew off during Hurricane Irma.

Roof and foundation no visible issues.Both sides are rented and families want to stay and seem stable(2 years plus).

The house needs some major work (roof, new heat pump, upgrading, etc).

Even if you're funded elsewhere, a new roof, driveway, furnace, etc, would TAKE YEARS to ROI if at all.
