So after moving out, it only makes since to keep your STR on Airbnb and set your min stay length to 30 days to comply with local city rules and regs.  

I am researching starting with a STR on Galveston.Does anyone have experience in this space?

yea, the sad reality is that those are the numbers and most of the time they don't work out with single family homes unless you buy a distressed one and BRRR.Your assessment and calculations are correct and as @Cody L. said it all depends on the price you buy at.That said you could, for a couple of years, pour all the profits you make from the STR on your house into paying down the mortgage until the point when your principal and monthly payments are smaller and the numbers start to workout to LTR the property.

With the current vacancy I'm running on the one STR on this property, I could raise my rental rates less than $20 on just that one unit and easily cover this additional tax.  

Could anyone give me some stron advice on how to findo new cash buyers.

Are there alternative sites to post your STR on?

I have limited knowledge of STR (only 2 months in, and its performing beyond my expectations) and just wanted to gauge value in all directions to ensure I am maximizing my earnings, if that makes any sense. 

Purchase price: $665,000 STR on Lake Charlevoix. 250 ft of water frontage and 4 miles from Boyne City.
