They/you can't choose the carrier - their software assigns it.Fortegra is one of the carriers (paper in insurance parlance) that their product is written on.That said, Fortegra is A- rated I believe by AM Best so that isn't the issue.I'm going to take a guess and say that your umbrella is written with PersonalUmbrella.com (Markel) and they require all underlying insurance to be A-rated but also with an admitted carrier. 

To start your journey, I recommend focusing on building your network by joining meetups and engaging in online forums, while narrowing down your first investment based on your budget, market, and goals.

It's not like other markets where all info is online and everything is super fast and easy.

So, if you don't know how to build financial models, there are some available that are pretty good online (adventures in CRE is a great resource).  

They are highly secretive however - no online presence under their names while being very tech-advanced, they also installed like seven cameras around the house perimeter.

Definitely join your local chapter of REIA (real estate investors association) or join one of the ones that are fully online (Columbus and Cincinnati).

There are a lot of websites that offer the course online, or if you have a college near you, they also typically offer a class that satisfies the pre-licensing requirement.

Yes, there's a lot of information online, but nothing replaces and EXPERIENCED honorable agent.A seller whose listing expired with a different agent/firm is now my client; the other agent was from a town 45 minutes away from the flip property....the listing expired.
