I am fairly new to the Chicago RE scene though, do you know of other neighborhoods that have affordable turn key multi unit properties that are likely to rent and generate cash flow?

If behind the scenes you think that your own income should be able to get a Lender onto your side - how will you answer their question: "why do you have NO money saved?"

They just go about working quietly behind the scenes. 

I'd rather put in the work behind the scenes crunching numbers or finding the best ways to set up a deal.

I know the city extremely well, as I've grew up here, so my only addition is knowing competitive advantages of the landscape, i.e. incoming Silicon Beach tech scene, gentrifying hip neighborhoods, etc.

Many short term rental owners do not currently have a business license or collect/pay taxes, they may get away with it for a little while, but since the city is already agitated about the short term rental scene, I would not be surprised if they aggressively come after non-reporters.
