Figuring for future value your going to lose about $200k of that future value.  

As far as benefit to the seller goes, @Matthew Paul I think you are probably right on the money and regardless of whether they would have preferred to stay in this house rather than move, it is likely providing them some excellent cash flow; and I'd be hard-pressed to come up with a deal that serves both parties better than the current situation. 

Better to get what you can, than to lose it all.

You have some people in here who are cool with and celebrate losing over $1,000 a month.

Most of these folks don't want to lose their voucher.Additional issue, when rent is too high, it slows down leasing. 

But the mindset remains that the structure just loses its value over time.That's not to say I think property investing in Japan cannot work -- it's just the parameters are quite different from places like the US (like many things in Japan!).

That being said due to the number of sharks out there I would only spend money that I can afford to lose. 

I have been using Stessa for years and don't want to lose all that I have stored in the program. 

The owner seems to want to not lose ownership of the account altogether.
