My good friend owns a farm and I'll be helping him harvest in a few weeks.

When it came time to harvest, I found no potatoes.

The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few.  

The property was a citrus grove and a contract was created and sold where a third-party retained the full rights to operate on the property collecting the harvest and selling said harvest to make the note payment which then would be distributed to investors.

@Dave DeMarinis :  The 12 plex is in Harvest and is doing well, we achieved our EOY2 average target rent in month 6 and are getting EOY3 target rents in current rollovers (currently month 7 of ownership). 

What's not said is "the process was like getting my teeth pulled one by one for 60 days straight and that $20k I harvested costed me $4k".  

Dividend harvesting - I am invested in a group that does all the work, they play in stocks that pay a dividend. 

These equity harvesting schemes chop your appreciation down and prohibit you from keeping it in the family for inter-generational wealth (Prop 13 tax basis can be passed down, I personally will never sell bay area real estate... the venerable  @Jay Hinrichs has listed selling silicon valley real estate as one of his major regrets).

You want them to harvest it and take it home.
