STR, MTR, it doesn't matter, you can't house people there and would be in a severe insurance liability if something were to happen in an unpermitted addition or renovation.If it was permitted, you would use Furnished Finder for MTR.

Rent a storage unit in a nearby town, ship all items to storage unit, pay someone to then use the items to furnish the home or make a weekend trip 

I've been house hacking and renting another room in home via Furnished Finder for Midterm rentals for the past year.

I see a lot of posts for furnished monthly stays where owners are fretting over utilities and how to ensure a tenant doesn't abuse their being provided.

We also list on furnished finder and airbnb but get most off our traveling nurses from that group.

This is the entry point I’d recommend with high CoC returns and includes your downpayment (20-25% down), closing costs and the furnishing/design budget.
