The Boston area seems to have a lot of old Victorian homes divided into multiple units.

We traded it in for a 1898 Victorian in downtown COS.

My starting the process of my buying my very first real estate investment, I’ve decided to go with multi-family, I plan to buy and hold, I plan on buying a duplex or triplex, I plan to live in one unit and rent the other one(s), I live in a town where there are many old properties such as Victorians, a-lot of the time witch I prefer because I plan to update it with time such as carpet, appliances, counters etc.

It’s nothing to sink 50k in an old Victorian house so watch your budget focus on stuff that is safety and preventative maintenance related ,not cosmetic

Over the years I have been tempted to purchase one of those beautiful Victorian ladies (every time I am in town for the festival, in fact) but the character of the outer neighborhood has given me pause. 

There is a neat looking Victorian in my market that has 6 bedrooms, but needs a fair amount of work.

Without further info the home looks like a huge old Victorian home that was converted into a multi fam (I could be wrong).

It was a HUGE, old victorian single family home that the realty company split into 6 apartments.

We recently ran across a large Victorian house that was foreclosed last month. 

Alameda is really diverse in its renter population as there are so many large homes and Victorians that have been converted into multi-family units on the island (due to Measure A that restricts density per parcel - http://www.saveourcityalameda.org/alameda-measure-... ).
