The simple old story of more demand than product.I am old enough to have gone through a few recessions/depressions  and have owned many properties at those times.

I am considering finding a second job (probably in finance, if possible) but am also somewhat depressed about the notion that it's near impossible to work in a high-paying job (on the level of financial analysts in ibanking) at this point.

It's entirely possible to have a negative bubble (artificial price depression) due to speculation in the futures markets.

Aberdeen is a small market.. but its also pretty depressed and has been for years so I would have thought you would have gotten some responses. 

One of my dogs passed away in 5/15 and I decided the end of 7/15 that I wanted to get another dog because I was feeling depressed and so was my other dog.

Buyers compete with owner-occupants for bid prices on assets, which from a macroeconomic standpoint inflates prices to levels where the yield is generally non-existent or at the very least is depressed severely.

As someone else mentioned, it makes the market look depressed.

I was going through a depression and that cat saved my life.

I️ think it’s still recovering from the energy market being depressed and there is opportunity everywhere.

Or you can 1031 into regions where prices are depressed and your spending dollars go further.
